Autumn's chill will melt away under the warmth of perennial friend Priscilla Herdman. In nearly 30 years of performing and recording, she has won a devoted audience. Fans in Ithaca have had to wait five years since her last appearance here with Anne Hills and Cindy Mangsen (The Trio).

Priscilla Herdman is known for having the richest female voice on the folk circuit: lyrical and spell-binding. Scott Alarik of The BostonGlobe calls it, "...miraculously pure and effortlessly beautiful, a voice that immediately draws people in." Critics from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Dirty Linen, and Sing Out! have variously lauded it as, "spiritually luminescent," "elegant, pitch-perfect," "opulent," and "enrapturing."

Priscilla Herdman puts this remarkable voice to use on first-rate, wide-ranging material, from traditional Australian outback ballads to Utah Phillips, to insightful, contemporary "issue" songs, to sweet lullabies and love songs. She has an uncanny ability to find lasting, wonderful songs and a chameleon's skill at fitting herself to them perfectly, giving them graceful, powerful expression. She chooses, "significant material from the finest writers (including herself), and makes [it] even more special through her performance:...good songs sung right" (Sing Out!).

She also keeps great musical company, being joined on stage, in the studio, and in friendship by the likes of Abby Newton, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, Artie Traum, Bill Staines, and the aforementioned Hills and Mangsen.

Join the Cornell Folk Song Society in welcoming Priscilla Herdman for an evening of heartfelt music: silly, sad, passionate--she does it all.

Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851.
